Tackle Loaner Program

Aberdeen Parks and Recreation has partnered with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission to offer the tackle loaner program for anglers of all ages. Participants over the age of 16 must have a fishing license. The program operates just like a library. Register for free to receive a tackle loaner ID card, which allows you to check out a rod and reel. Anglers under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian complete the registration form. First-time participants under 16 years of age will receive a free mini-tackle box. Tackle loaner ID cards can be used at other participating sites in North Carolina, but rods and reels must be returned to the original loaner site. Visit for a list of other participating sites. Rods and reels can be checked out at the Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department, must be checked out and in during our office hours (Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.), and may be loaned overnight. We do not sell bait. Enjoy fishing at Aberdeen Lake Park or Ray’s Mill Park!

Town of Aberdeen Parks & Recreation Department's Fee Policy

The Parks and Recreation Department is an agency of the Town of Aberdeen and receives municipal tax revenue paid by residents living inside the corporate limits of the Town.  Others who live outside the corporate limits are charged a higher rate for participation in our programs because they do not pay Town taxes.

The policy for application of this fee differential is as follows:

You must live inside the corporate limits of Aberdeen at the time of your registration in order to be charged the Town of Aberdeen resident rate.  All others will be charged the non-resident rate.

Refunds of fees paid for most activities will be made under certain conditions.  For allowed refunds, there may be a refund fee of up to $5.00.  Refunds are not available after the activity registration deadline except for substantial hardships.  Complete refund policy is available upon request from the Parks and Recreation Department.
