Movies by the Lake

Join us the third Friday in July through October at Aberdeen Lake Park to enjoy family movies on the big screen. Admission is free and concessions will be available for purchase.

The Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department, along with our various sponsors present the following movies:

  • October 19 at 7:15 p.m. – A Wrinkle in Time

26th Annual Sardine Festival

Friday, October 12

11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 
Aberdeen Lake Park

All are invited to come and enjoy a free lunch of Sardines, Crackers, Moon Pies, RC Colas, and Cokes!  Last year’s Sardine Queen will arrive by fire truck at 12 pm, and the new 2018 Queen will be crowned!  Donations are greatly appreciated to help support youth programs across Moore County.

Fall-O-Ween 

Saturday, October 20

Aberdeen Lake Park

Join us at Aberdeen Lake Park for fun carnival games, inflatables and a climbing wall. This event is for children ages 15 and under, and the cost of $5 per child gets the kids on all games, inflatables, and climbing wall.

There will be food truck vendors and ice cream. The Aberdeen Police and Fire Departments will also be there to pass out safety tips and information for the children. We encourage everyone to put on their best costume and join us for the fun.

Reindeer Fun Run

Saturday, December 1 
Downtown Aberdeen

The Reindeer Fun Run is a FUN community event for everyone from serious runners to recreational walkers, families, and pets. Join in the holiday cheer with the 5k Fun Run/Walk, 12ks of Christmas and the Kids 800m Egg Nog Jog. The Reindeer Fun Run is part of TeamGreen Charities, and is proud to donate 100% of proceeds collected to the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills. Tree Lighting

Thursday, December 6

The Depot in Historic Downtown Aberdeen

Witness the lighting of the Christmas tree and the arrival of Santa with special performances. Enjoy light refreshments while listening to “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”  

Supper with Santa

Friday, December 7 
6:00 - 7:30 p.m. 
Aberdeen Recreation Center
Children $5, Adults $10, Non-resident Adults $15

Join the Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department for a catered dinner from Texas Roadhouse, holiday crafts, and watch Frosty the Snowman as you hang out with Santa! Tickets are on sale at the Aberdeen Recreation Center.

Christmas Parade

Old Fashioned Christmas

Thursday, December 8
1:00 - 5:00 p.m. 
Malcolm Blue Farm

The farmhouse will be open and decorated in the fashion of the period. Music and light refreshments will be provided. The pack house will be open with children’s activities such as letters to Santa with feather pens and making bird feeders. The museum will also be open to visitors. Come celebrate Christmas, in the spirit of the 1820s!

Malcolm Blue Farm is located at 1177 Bethesda Road.
