Serving the community since 1921

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Aberdeen Fire Department is to protect and enhance the high quality of life for the citizens and visitors of the Town of Aberdeen from the adverse effects of natural and man-made emergencies.

Our goal is to provide a model Fire Protection program through an innovative, proactive, and cost-efficient approach to emergency response, fire code application and public fire education.

It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lil Phillip - Phillip L Richardson III.

Lil Phillip passed away Saturday July 17, 2010.

Arrangements are:  Tuesday July 20: Viewing 6-8pm at Grace Church in Southern Pines

Wednesday July 21: Service 2:00pm at Grace Church followed by burial at Bethesda Cemetery.

Following the burial, please join us back at the Aberdeen Fire Department

to be with family and friends for dinner and to continue to celebrate Lil Phillips life and memories.

The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Carolina Tiger Rescue

http://www.carolinatigerrescue.org/

A fund is being organized to make a donation in Phillips memory to adopt a tiger.

If you are interested in helping, please contact Kati Horvath at khorvath@townofaberdeen.net

Thank you for all your love and support for the Richardson Family

Animated Messages - News

The new insurance rates took effect April 1, 2010 they are now a 4 in the Municipal District and a 5/9E in the Rural District.. This is a significant change and should greatly reduce the insurance cost to the citizens of our district.

We are extremely excited that we have improved our rating!

FlushingAnim

Update 2 - Click image to download.Week of May 10th

We are about to start Hydrant Testing/Flushing

Reasons for testing:
Determination of how much water is available for fire protection
Condition of the water distribution system and means of determining needed improvements
Detection of closed valves in the water system, and general maintenance of hydrants
Familiarize the firefighters with the type of water availability in order to be better prepared for a fire

How will this affect me?

You may notice a discoloration in your water from the sediments and iron stirred up by the flushing, although this may look alarming your water is still safe to use and drink.  Running your cold water for several minutes till it runs clear will generally alleviate this problem.  Avoid doing laundry or running the dishwasher until the water is clear again.  This will alleviate any problems of clothes becoming discolored from the sediments in the water, or having to re-run the dishwasher.

If you have any questions you may call the Fire Department at 944-7888
