Employment

We have all watched the suffering in the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti over the past couple of weeks and it has generated a true desire to help from all over North Carolina.  The recovery from this disaster will not be overnight and we expect an increasing number of individuals and groups to plan events to collect money and donations for Haiti.  Most of these efforts will be completely legitimate.  However, as with any high profile disaster, there is an opportunity for scammers to prey on the generosity of others.

The Charitable Solicitation Licensing Division of the Department of Secretary of State does licensing and registers charity organizations that solicit in North Carolina.  To verify if an organization has a current license visit www.sosnc.com, then click on "Charitable Solicitations" and then "Search the Registry" to see id the organization is valid.

If an organization is soliciting in our community and you can't confirm their registration, please contact the Aberdeen Police Department and provide us with as much information as you can.  We do rely on you to help and we do appreciate it.
